Spa Gardens & Outdoor Wellness
Taking the spa experience outdoors, connecting wellness with nature and the landscape.
Outdoor wellness designed around how people feel
We design spa gardens and outdoor wellness environments for hotels, retreats and private residences, bringing together specialist spa knowledge, thoughtful spatial design and a strong connection to nature.
From sauna, heat and cold to hydrotherapy, outdoor bathing and spaces for rest, we consider how each experience can support recovery, restoration and wellbeing, and how they work together as part of a complete outdoor wellness journey.
Closer to nature
Being outdoors brings another dimension to the wellness experience. Fresh air, natural light, changing temperatures, water, planting and the seasons can all influence how a space feels and how people experience it.
Connection with nature sits at the heart of our approach. Just as we look for opportunities to bring the outside into the spas we design, outdoor wellness allows that relationship to become even more immediate.
We consider the transitions between indoors and out, warmth and cold, activity and rest, enclosure and open space, creating experiences that engage the senses, support recovery and give people time and space to slow down.

A connected wellness journey
The most successful outdoor wellness environments are shaped by the relationship between each experience and the journey that connects them.
We consider where heat, water, cold, movement and rest sit within that journey; how people transition comfortably between them; and where there should be moments to pause, recover or simply spend time outdoors.
Views, privacy, shelter, orientation and changing weather all influence the experience, alongside the practical requirements of making outdoor wellness work throughout the year.
The result is a natural rhythm through the landscape, where each element has a purpose and the experience feels intuitive as a whole.
Outdoor wellness design
For residential & commercial spaces
Inspired by the surroundings
Every landscape offers something different.
A woodland retreat might invite immersion among trees and planting. A country estate may open towards long views and established gardens. A coastal hotel, urban terrace or private garden each creates a different relationship with weather, light, privacy and the surrounding environment.
We respond to what is already distinctive about a place, using materials, planting, water, natural light and carefully positioned wellness experiences to create spaces that feel as though they belong.
Designed to work beautifully in practice
Outdoor wellness brings its own practical considerations, from servicing, drainage and power to plant, access, privacy, weather protection and year-round use.
We consider these requirements from the outset and, depending on the project, work alongside architects, landscape designers, MEP consultants, pool and plant specialists, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure the design can be successfully translated from concept through to delivery.
For private projects, we can also work with the client’s existing architect, landscape designer or wider design team.
Take wellness outdoors
From thermal gardens and hydrotherapy to natural swimming, relaxation and outdoor treatment spaces, we can help you make more of the landscape around you.

Frequently asked QuestionsSpa Gardens & Outdoor Wellness
-
A spa garden is an outdoor wellness environment designed around experiences such as heat, water, cold, movement and rest. Rather than placing individual facilities in a garden, we consider the landscape and the journey between them, creating a connected setting for relaxation and recovery.
-
An outdoor spa garden can include saunas, hydrotherapy or spa pools, hot tubs, cold plunges, experience showers, relaxation terraces, sheltered seating, sensory routes and movement spaces. Planting, lighting, privacy and material choices help bring these elements together.
-
We begin with the character of the site: its views, planting, light, topography and relationship to nearby buildings. The placement of facilities, materials and circulation routes is then shaped around those qualities, so the wellness environment feels rooted in its setting.
-
They can be planned for year-round use, subject to the site and the technical specification. We consider weather protection, shelter, safe access, privacy, servicing, drainage, power and comfortable routes between warm and cold experiences from the earliest design stages.
-
Yes. We design outdoor wellness spaces for existing spas as well as new developments and private homes. The relationship between indoor facilities and the landscape is central, including guest circulation, transitions between temperatures, operational access and opportunities to rest outdoors.
