The brief

Expanding the retreat experience

Homefield Grange grew from a deeply personal belief. After experiencing the transformative effects of a naturopathic retreat herself, founder Suzanne Peck dedicated her career to helping others discover what their bodies are capable of when given the right conditions.

When Homefield Grange opened, its programmes combined nutrition, movement, rest and lifestyle education. Although the retreat became widely known for detox and weight-loss, Suzanne’s ambition had always been broader: to help people create healthier lives that continued long after their stay.

The addition of a thermal spa offered an opportunity to bring that wider vision more fully to life. Heat, cold, water and deep relaxation could become an integral part of the guest experience, deepening the retreat’s restorative approach while opening Homefield Grange to a broader audience.

“
The Living Well Spa complements the business's exclusive residential programmes and is a return to the true nature of what a spa is designed to offer. Giving back the time and space to concentrate on good health.

What we did

Designing a complete thermal journey

The spa was designed to complement Homefield Grange’s holistic approach to wellbeing, creating a sequence of experiences that support relaxation, recovery and restoration.

Every decision was made to encourage guests to slow down and move naturally through cycles of heat, cold, water and rest. Materials were chosen for warmth rather than luxury alone, creating an environment that feels grounded, calming and connected to the surrounding Northamptonshire landscape.

At the heart of the experience is a bespoke infinity-edge hydrotherapy pool, complemented by a Himalayan salt steam room, bespoke infrared relax bench, herbal sauna, aroma showers and a natural carved stone ice chute, introducing contrast therapy into the thermal journey.

Together, these spaces create a carefully considered thermal journey, designed to encourage deep relaxation, restoration and
a greater sense of wellbeing.

Specialist treatments

Extending the wellness experience

Alongside the thermal journey, we developed a series of specialist treatment spaces designed to broaden the therapies Homefield Grange could offer.

A traditional hammam with heated stone provides a setting for therapist-led cleansing rituals, while a Rasul chamber was created for guided mud treatments. Bespoke bathing spaces introduce immersive therapeutic rituals, and a heated quartz sand bed provides a deeply relaxing environment for massage.

A Vichy shower adds another dimension to the treatment experience, using temperature-controlled water alongside hands-on therapies.

Each space was considered as part of the wider wellness journey, allowing Homefield to offer experiences that went beyond the conventional treatment room while remaining true to its
restorative philosophy.

The spa garden

Taking wellness into the landscape

The next step was to create a setting that could welcome external retreat specialists, from yoga teachers to wellness practitioners, allowing Homefield Grange to host a broader programme of dedicated retreats.

Central to the concept is a new yoga barn. An upstairs studio looks out across the Northamptonshire countryside, creating a light-filled space for yoga, movement and group wellness sessions, while a restaurant and function space downstairs support retreats, events and time spent together.

The spa garden extends that experience into the landscape. A natural swimming pond forms its heart, with hydrotherapy pools integrated into the planting and places to relax overlooking the water. A Finnish sauna and cold plunge continue the contrast-therapy journey outdoors, while a reflexology walk leads guests through the gardens.

Rather than treating the landscape as a backdrop, the concept makes it part of the wellness experience, bringing together movement, water, heat, cold, rest and nature while giving Homefield Grange the flexibility to host a wider range of retreats.

A wider vision

Beyond the spa

As the spa took shape, it became clear the existing brand no longer reflected the experience Homefield Grange had evolved to offer. Working closely with Suzanne, we refined the brand to communicate that vision through a new visual identity, tone of voice and design system, creating a calmer, more considered expression of the retreat’s philosophy.

The rebrand wasn’t about creating a new identity. It was about expressing the business Homefield Grange had already become.

That marked the beginning of an eight-year creative partnership.

As Homefield Grange continued to evolve, our role expanded beyond the spa to encompass brand development, digital experience, product design and ongoing creative consultancy, helping shape a consistent guest experience across every touchpoint.

The outcome

A vision that continues to evolve

Eight years on, Homefield Grange is a more complete, more confident expression of the vision Suzanne first set out to create. Today, the retreat offers guests a far richer wellness experience than when we first met.

From the thermal spa at its heart to the brand, website, products and educational resources that surround it, every element works together to support the same ambition: helping people towards ‘Living Life Well’.
