SPA & wellness expertise

Heat, water, cold and sensory experiences, designed around rest, recovery and wellbeing.

Custom spa design, shaped around the way people feel

We design distinctive spa and wellness environments for hotels, resorts and private residences. Each project brings together an understanding of its setting, the people who will use it and the experience the client wants to create, shaping spaces that feel considered, welcoming and connected.

Shaping the wellness journey

Every project has its own setting, guests and ambitions. We consider the target market, location, available space, existing facilities, local competition, operational requirements and commercial objectives to define the right mix of experiences.

Heat, water, cold, sensory, rest and recovery are brought together in response to the property, landscape and wider brand, creating a distinctive wellness offer with its own character and identity.

A spa has its own rhythm

We design the flow from heat to cold, activity to rest, and experience to recovery, considering how guests move, pause and transition through each space

Designing the experience

Each project calls for a different combination of experiences. We use these elements as building blocks, bringing them together around the needs of the guest and the character of the destination.

Sauna | Steam | Hammam | Infrared | Thermal experiences

Heat can take many forms, from traditional sauna and steam to hammam, infrared and bespoke thermal experiences. We consider temperature, humidity, materials, capacity and bathing rituals alongside the atmosphere and sensory quality of the space. Each experience is positioned within the wider thermal journey, with transitions to cooling, water and rest designed to create a natural rhythm of heat, contrast and recovery.

Hydropools | Vitality pools | Hydrotherapy | Experience showers

Water brings movement, temperature and sensation into the wellness journey. We design hydropools, vitality pools, hydrotherapy and specialist water experiences around the needs of each project, considering bathing sequences, capacity and therapeutic benefit alongside circulation, filtration, plant and maintenance. The experience itself and the technical requirements behind it are developed together from the outset.

Cold experiences bring contrast, energy and recovery into the thermal journey. We design everything from cold plunge pools and bucket showers to ice and specialist cooling experiences, considering temperature, duration, guest comfort and how each element connects with heat. Their location and sequence are carefully planned, allowing guests to move intuitively between temperatures and experience the benefits of thermal contrast.

Sensory icon

Sensory

Experience showers | Light | Sound | Scent | Salt

Sensory design brings another dimension to the spa experience. Temperature, water, light, sound, scent and texture can be combined to change the mood and character of a space, creating moments that feel energising, calming or restorative. We use these elements to develop experiences that engage the senses and complement the wider wellness journey, with each one designed around the concept and character of the project.

Relaxation spaces | Thermal loungers | Quiet zones | Nature

Rest brings stillness and balance to the wellness journey. We design spaces for guests to slow down between experiences, considering comfort, privacy, acoustics, lighting, views and connection with nature. From thermal loungers and quiet relaxation rooms to outdoor spaces, each environment is designed to create a sense of calm and allow time for the body and mind to reset.

Breathwork | Compression | Cryotherapy | Red light | Recovery technology

Recovery spaces are shaped around guests’ goals, from relaxation and everyday wellbeing to movement and physical performance. We plan environments for breathwork, compression, cryotherapy, red light and other specialist experiences, considering the suitability of each approach within the wider spa offer. Equipment requirements, privacy, practitioner access, lighting, acoustics and services inform the design from the outset. Flexible layouts allow spaces to accommodate different programmes and adapt as guest needs and technologies develop.

Connecting the spa with the outdoors

Outdoor wellness brings landscape, fresh air and seasonal change into the spa journey. We design gardens and terraces that connect bathing, heat, cooling and rest, considering views, planting, privacy and the relationship with indoor spaces. Sheltered routes, comfortable recovery areas, lighting and carefully integrated services support use throughout the year. From intimate private gardens to hotel thermal landscapes, each space is shaped around its setting and the people using it.

Specialist knowledge behind the experience

Spa design brings together guest experience, operations and a highly specialised technical environment.

Heat, water and humidity influence drainage, ventilation, pool plant, services, materials, maintenance and accessibility. Alongside this, we consider guest and staff circulation, capacity, treatment provision, back-of-house requirements, privacy, sightlines and the balance of spaces across the spa.

We bring these requirements into the design from the outset, working alongside architects, interior designers, MEP consultants, pool specialists and manufacturers to develop spaces that are beautiful, technically resolved and operationally effective.

From early thinking to detailed design of the wellness space

Our involvement often begins before the spa itself has been defined.

Through early-stage spa consultancy and feasibility, we help establish the concept, facility mix and guest experience before developing the project through spatial planning, concept and detailed spa design.

We specify the experiences, equipment and appropriate specialist manufacturers, coordinate with the wider consultant team and can remain involved during delivery to help protect the quality and intent of the original design.

Creating what’s next

New ideas, experiences and technologies are continually shaping spa and wellness design.

We explore developments in thermal bathing, contrast therapy, hydrotherapy, sensory experiences and recovery, assessing their relevance to the intended audience, available evidence, operational requirements and long-term ambitions of each project.

Innovation can take many forms: a new technology, a fresh interpretation of a bathing ritual, a closer connection with the landscape or a more intuitive journey through the spa. We bring these possibilities into designs with a clear sense of purpose, place and identity.
